One in three of us will face cancer at some point in our lives, and most will know someone already dealing with it.

Macmillan Cancer Support are a charity set up to support and assist cancer patients and their families during a difficult time in their lives.  Be it emotional support, financial information, advice about work, or just someone to talk to – they are there to help.

As a way of helping and contributing to the charity, the staff and children at South Cumbria PRU once again took part in the World’s biggest Coffee Morning where they were able to enjoy a cuppa and a slice of cake for a small contribution to the cause.  The PRU pupils enjoyed baking scones and shortbread through the week in readiness for the Coffee Morning on Friday 30th September.

Also, the staff held a ‘bake off’ event on Wednesday 28th September with their very own, Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry judging the delicious cakes entered.  Miss Haldane the Deputy Head Teacher of the PRU took first prize with a mouth watering Brooklyn Blackout Cake!

The total money raised during the fundraising week was £117.40 – an excellent achievement!
