Our Year 7’s, 8’s and 9’s are taking part in a business enterprise challenge called ‘Battle to Succeed’.

The idea was created by St Mary’s Hospice to commemorate three decades of end of life care to people in the community, and to hopefully raise funds for the hospice.  Schools within the Furness and South Lakes area will compete against each other to raise as much money as they can.  The groups will be asked to create a plan outlining how they plan to generate as much money as possible from an initial investment and then the best plan will be put into action.

Each school will be assigned a local business or organisation who will sponsor them up to £250 and will mentor the students.  Stollers Furniture World will sponsor South Cumbria PRU.

Money raised from the project will be donated to St Mary’s Hospice, and an amount awarded to the groups who raise the most money in their school and also to the school that raises the most money.

Students are promoting their items within the store at Stollers Furniture World selling their ‘Odbod’ key rings and doorstops and the display is looking very impressive!  Fingers crossed their hard work and effort spent making the items is rewarded by selling all the items produced:

The local newspaper has also written an article detailing the challenge and cause:  NWEM: Stollers School Challenge

A massive well done to all pupils who have been involved in the ‘Battle to Succeed’ challenge.  Our pupils were given £30 to make as much money as possible, we have currently made an amazing £250 and still have some products to sell!

We had a lovely day in Stollers selling our products, all pupils were a credit to the school and their families.  Well done all!
