South Cumbria Pupil Referral Service (SCPRS)

Our service comprises a pupil referral unit, hospital and home tuition service and a specialist key stage 4 social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) provision.

Pupil placements are decided in conjunction with the local authority.  Pupils also join the pupil referral unit following a permanent exclusion from school.  Our specialist provision is only accessible to year 10 and 11 pupils with EHCPs where the primary need is identified as SEMH.

Across all parts of our service, we work with a variety of agencies to support children and young people who require additional support with their social, emotional and health needs.   We promote positive mental health alongside academic achievement to all young people.   Where appropriate we aim to reintegrate pupils back into mainstream education.

Those pupils placed in our specialist SEMH provision will usual complete key stage 4 with us.  No matter which part of the service a pupil attends, we want them to be a valuable part of society whilst supporting them they fulfil their potential during their time with us.

All staff hold one another to account to provide a positive, inclusive, safe and secure environment for our young people to feel confident to learn.  We try to ensure our pupils feel valued, respected and supported by empathetic staff who consider the individual needs of each pupil.  We aim for all to develop resilience and be accountable for their behaviours.  We are very proud of our school and all our students achieve and we appreciate the support of our families and community.

We work with parents/carers to ensure you are listened to so that the needs your children are effectively met. We also work with many partner organisations such as Health, Children’s Service, Police and SEND support services.

Whatever the context of the placement, a student’s progress is assessed and monitored at all stages of their placement to ensure that provision remains appropriate and is outcome focused.
