Careers Visit – Army

On Thursday 16th January our students had a careers session with Cpl Weldon and Cpl Wade-Wilson from the Lancaster Regiment. Students across Key stage 3 & 4 had a presentation and a Q & A session and conversations with the soldiers. At the PRU we work in partnership with employers, careers advisers, local authorities and other education and training providers to support students to prepare for the workplace and to make informed choices about their next step in education or training. These discussions are essential and inspirational for improving motivation and engagement, and for planning young people’s development.

We had a wonderful response back after the session from Cpl Weldon:

Good evening Michaela,

I wanted to extend our sincerest gratitude for welcoming Army Careers Lancaster to your school. It was a privilege to engage with your students and share insights about the opportunities within the Army. Events like these are crucial, as they help students and the wider public gain a clearer understanding of how the Army operates and the diverse career pathways available.

Many may not realize the range of skills and professions within the Army beyond traditional roles, from engineering and healthcare to logistics and technology. By having the chance to speak with students directly, we hope to inspire them to consider a future with us and explore pathways that align with their aspirations.

Thank you again for allowing us to be part of such a valuable event. We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate and help empower young people with knowledge about their career options. If you would like any future events planned, please don’t hesitate to contact the office on our group mail.

Best regards,

Cpl Weldon (Liam)
