Knife Crime Project
Over recent months there has been a Knife Crime project running throughout Primary and Secondary schools in the Furness area. The programme consists of sessions around awareness, safety and consequences of knife crime with the input from victims’ families, NHS, Police and youth workers.
With support from Cath Corkill at the local Dropzone, we have managed to bring the Knife Angel (click here for leaflet) to Barrow. This will be resident in front of the Forum in Duke Street from 5th January 2022 to 31st January 2022. A time frame video of the Angel being positioned can be viewed here.
Inside the Forum there is a comments book whereby it would be great if people could give feedback on their views of the statue and the impact it may have had on them and their families/peers. This feedback would be valuable in developing the project and how it moves forward in the future.
Alongside the Knife Angel’s stay in Barrow we are going to run an art competition for both primary and secondary aged children in the area (see below leaflets for further information). We see this as another great way to raise awareness. The art work that young people produce will be shown in an exhibition at the Forum throughout February.
