Careers and Aspirations Day
The Future Aspirations session involved 3 companies coming to speak and set activities for our Key Stage 3 students.
Elliot Samson from A1 Construction presented the job roles and apprenticeship opportunities that his local company provide. Elliot talked about his own career journey and how some life events shaped his plans and how he set up and built his own company. The group were able to ask questions, look at images of work that the company have completed and to explore the various roles within the construction field. https://la1construction.co.uk/
Mark Hammond from Cumbria Highways- Economy & Infrastructure spoke to the students about his career journey, his childhood and his job role now. Students asked questions and learned about the different levels of apprenticeship routes through Cumbria Highways. Mark explained about the Council’s role in looking after the highways in Cumbria and how the councils have now split.

George Smith a Wind Turbine Engineer spoke to the students about his career journey which started at Cumbria County Council where he got Level 3 qualified and then moved on to Orsted. Dave Hamilton spoke about his journey and his role now in Orsted as did Maya Proctor. The students worked on a design task and were given materials to work as a team. This process is similar to one that prospective apprentices do as part of their interview.
